"Throughout the centuries, there were men who took the first steps down new roads armed with nothing but their vision."
The MUN Society of St. Agnes' Loreto Day School, Luckow is proud to announce St. Agnes' Model UN 2020. An all-invitational virtual conference, SAMUN 2020 pledges to be a platform for actual exchange of ideas and values, hosting delegates from Loreto Institutions across the Indian Subcontinent. The conference will be held from 6th November through 8th November, 2020.
Committees in SAMUN are simulated on the basis of the pressing questions that face our generation. Ranging from the climate and displacement refugee crisis to the question of universal health coverage, discussions and deliberations at St. Agnes' Model UN will help delegates gain an insight into the workings of the United Nations by assuming the roles of UN representatives for three days.
The Secretariat is dedicated to provide the delegates with an unparalleled virtual conferencing experience, coupled with a dynamic flow of debate. We strive to provide for an open forum for dialogue on the most complex global issues, and the highly-esteemed Executive Board of this year's conference ensures the same.
During the conference, students will learn the importance of balancing national interests with those of the international community. We encourage you to mark the dates and to pull out your research binders. To dare is to do, and at St. Agnes' MUN, we encourage you to do the same.
“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.”
The transformative capability to embrace change and adapt to challenging environments has always been the defining characteristic of leaders. The world today is traversing through an unprecedented trial. Wars, unrest and climate change had already disrupted millions of lives. The global pandemic exacerbated the already entrenched mistrust, inequalities and poverty worldwide.
It is evident that the world today needs leaders with intellect and insight. However, what it needs even more are changemakers who are compassionate, humble, and kind. People who talk about building bridges between communities, not talk about putting up walls of division. Individuals who strengthen similarities, not aggravate prejudices. Values and ideals of empathy, togetherness and dignity have been inculcated in all members of the Loreto family. We are proud bearers of a legacy that was initiated by Mary Ward and which transcends differences and strives towards justice and integrity for all humankind.
It is our great pleasure to invite all the young delegates to an enriching first session of St Agnes’ Loreto Model United Nations Conference, SAMUN 2020. A Model United Nations (MUN) is an activity which involves discussions and deliberations on various topics of international concern in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations and conflict resolution and teaches participants speaking, debating, and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
SAMUN 2020 is offering many intellectually stimulating committees for emerging leaders of tomorrow. We will be employing the use of technology to accommodate the social distancing norms and using an online platform to conduct our primary session in 2020. SAMUN promises to be a rewarding academic experience.
Yours sincerely,
D. Bunny
