Description: "Without the spur of competition, we'd loaf out our life." -- Arnold Glasow Concurring with these words that proclaim the inimitable importance of competitions and with the aim of keeping our children encouraged and upbeat from the very kick-off of this new academic session, the House of Peace of St. Agnes’ Loreto Day School, organized a series of competitions, which were held on the 13th of May, 2023, for the students of classes VI to XII. The first competition was “Poetry Writing” meant for the students of classes VI to VIII. The participants employed their creativity, diction, and writing skills to articulate their thoughts in the best way possible where the first place was secured by the House of Peace, followed by the House of Charity in the second place, the House of Hope in the third place and the House of Joy in the fourth place. The second competition, for the students of classes IX and X, was ‘Extempore’. The confidence of the participants was palpable as they employed their ingenuity and oratory skills to put forth their arguments to the best of their potential. House of Charity stood first, House of Hope stood second, House of Peace stood third and House of Joy stood fourth. The last competition, for the students of classes XI and XII, was ‘Spiel It Out’. The students drew inspiration from the problems prevalent in the current times, participated with a lot of gusto, and presented the plans of their start-up businesses in a rather impeccable manner while keeping the goals of sustainable development in mind. House of Hope stood triumphant grabbing the first position. It was followed by the House of Joy in the second position. House of Peace grabbed the third place and House of Charity acquired the fourth place. Based on the consolidated score of all the three competitions, the first place was secured by the House of Hope followed by the House of Peace in the second place. The third and the fourth places were secured by the House of Charity and the House of Joy respectively. These competitions provided a platform for the students to exhibit their co-curricular skills and notwithstanding the positions they secured, everyone indisputably gained something out of it. We achieve more when we chase the dream instead of the competition. – Simon Sinek
