Description: The Inter School competition, Ad Astra is the embodiment of camaraderie, fair-play and innovation. The first day of this event was inaugurated on the 11th of October with a solemn prayer service and the ceremonious lighting of the lamp. The event was graced with the presence of the honourable Chief Guest, Mr. Stephen DaCosta, former principal of Frank Anthony Boys’ School, who addressed the gathering with his erudite words. It was also attended by Mr. Peter Fanthome, Principal of St. Teresa’s Day School, Sister Helen, Sister Anima, principal of school, Miss Bunny, teachers, senior students and members of the participating schools. The competitions for the day were organized by the Literary Club as part of Boulevard. There were five multifaceted competitions, of which two were off-stage. The students competed in these composite competitions testing both, their intellect and creativity. The first on-stage competition was ‘Cloaked Climatics’, that is Dramatics Personae, in which students had to combine two stories from different literary works and enact it to their best ability. The second on-stage competition was ‘Plea de Redención’, which was the mock trial. In this event we witnessed stellar performances by students, each representing a certain character against whom a set of allegations were placed. Each participant presented their case with incessant brilliance. This was followed by ‘Thespian Masquerade’; Shakespearean Fascade in which the students had to enact a short play centred around an object including characters from the plays of Shakespeare. Parallel to these, the students endeavoured to show their talent in ‘Symphony of Euphony’ and ‘Comic Caboodle’. The first day of Ad Astra culminated ceremoniously with the distribution of prizes and much cherished experiences.
