Description: In this rat race that’s a life where competitions and aspirations frequently surpass our humanistic expectations, it indeed is the need of the hour to take out some time and ponder over things that are of greater importance, where cruelty towards animals perhaps tops the list. To shed light upon this issue that has been infesting our society for decades untold, a talk was held at St. Agnes’ Loreto Day School, on the 8th of May, 2023, for the students of classes VI to VIII. The session was organized by a rehab and rescue firm by the name of CYRO Pet Sanctuary and was presided over by Mr. Cyrus Maclure Cowasji, who is an animal activist, trainer, and behaviorist. This is a firm that takes in stray animals as well as the tamed ones that have been abandoned by their owner and have thus become homeless. Mr. Cowasji attempted to sensitize the students about the hardships these animals have to face every day as well as the cruelty that is doled out on them by some people on the street. Sessions like these are truly a boon and help students to become more humane and empathetic towards one and all, and unsurprisingly this too was no different. The session was indeed very thought-provoking and propelled the students to think towards the noble cause of not only eradicating cruelty towards stray animals but also helping them find a decent home. “Humanity's true moral test, its fundamental test…consists of its attitude towards those who are at its mercy: animals.”? Milan Kundera
